A question for my bird loving friends. I am designing a character that I want to be part avian (and part human.) I am looking for a bird that is orange (surprise!) or has orange markings on it’s body (not head.) If possible, I would like it to be a fruit eating bird (mmmm fruit.) I’m looking for one that really stands out.
Any suggestions?

Besides the parrots Eve has suggested, you might want to look into Orioles. Most North American species have impressive orange markings.
Link to the Baltimore Oriole, with several links on the right hand side to other Oriole species. They don’t eat exclusively fruit, but it is part of their diet, as are insects.
Also try the Orange Bishop, a cute little seed-eating weaver.
Parrots are my first thought, in all their colourful glory. =D They’re bright and they’re fruit eaters. Sun Conures are incredibly striking.
Though for lovely combinations of orange and black there is the Baltimore Oriole.

I googled Balitmore Orioles after reading that page and only got information on baseball, lol! After refining my search, I particularly like the Bullock’s Oriole. I even have a chance to see that one over here in the Western USA…
O_O They are orange AND green (I love green too) I think I am in love. Another commenter also linked me to another parrot, a rainbow lorikeet. I like them too (look like they belong in a rave though!)
