each separate dying ember…

ember
…wrought its ghost upon the floor

I occasionally make photo manipulations, but I rarely share them, obviously this being an exception. For the most part, all my them are strongly inspired by my dreams, this one is no exception. One chronic problem I have in my dreams is not being able to find my glasses, so because of that I purposely left this thing a little blurry.

Stock from mjranum-stock, InKi-Stock and diamondie-stock.

The bird character I am thinking about designing is going to be similar to this dream being if you are wondering. Only less intimidating more colorful. I am really liking the sun conure for that.

I am absolutely floored how parallel our lives seem to run at times.
I’ve mentioned before, albeit briefly, “The Blackbird scenario” and how I feel it represents my current persona.

I’ve been toying with a character of my own for the past 6 months or so, andd while it’s been more or less on the down low, she happens to be a harpy.
I only have one very rough coloured sketch at this point, and several dozen rough mock-ups of her… but nothing I feel good about sharing with the public.

Anyway, your own bird/human combination reminded me of that.

Harpy, that was the word I was looking for earlier when I was trying to explain this creature to someone. I too am always amazed when I see the similarities between the spiritual aspects of our lives.

The harpies in my dreams always have a really exotic angle to them, sometimes the are reversed too when human lower bodies and bird upper bodies and heads. The one similarity they all share is that they are always faceless (sometimes only a beak) and usually intimidating. I like the symbolism of harpies in general though, as bringers of both death and life.

I am not sure the approach I am going to take with designing my avatar. I know it will come together over time though, probably as I come to understand the meaning of the creature more. (On an anatomical note, bird feet have to be one of the hardest things in the world to draw…)

What a cool image. I love that you took an image from a dream and made it “real”.

    FYI:

Bird feet = 1 toe back, 3 toes forward
Parrot feet = 2 toes back, 2 toes forward

Parrots are born with 3 and 1, and then the one toe migrates backward. :)

That is really cool! No wonder the little buggers can get into anything…
