Feline Friday: Windigo Update

Aos
Still no sight of Windigo and the calls from the signs I posted etc have completely stopped. Not that any of them were beneficial. At one point I even had one lady call me and say “I saw your flier and Yokes and I didn’t find your cat but I found another stray you can have!” I hung up, otherwise I would have screamed at her.

I know Windigo could still return but I find myself beginning to wonder when I should consider finding a friend for Aos. He still will wander around in the middle of the day meowing for someone to play with him (and then won’t play with me!) I have been taking him out on his leash every day to acquaint him with the great outdoors, in case he every gets out, or we decide to let him be an indoor/outdoor cat.

On an personal level, Aos has had to make his biggest lifestyle change ever. He now has to clean himself, Windigo use to do it for him. This means he has had to discover the horror of hairball formula. He is not thrilled about it.

I’m so sorry about Windigo. :(
    I’m still sending good thoughts.

It’s nice that you’re allowing Aos supervised/leashed outdoor time, but please reconsider allowing him to be indoor/outdoor, as it is dangerous for your kitty and local wildlife.

The main reason I was considering indoor/outdoor is because as Damian grows he is more capable of opening doors (he can open the screen door now at the moment if it is not shut tight.) I would like to say I can just child proof everything and leave it at that but the reality is Damian can open just about any childlocked item given enough time. So Aos will get out.

That said I do not really want him to be an indoor/outdoor cat. I just worry and want him to be able to find his way home when he inevitably gets out, but he will always be an indoor cat.

I am curious what you think about us finding another cat to keep Aos company? He is not really the loner type when it comes right down to it, so if he is always indoor he will need a friend. How long would you wait?

Im so sorry that Windigo has yet to find his way home. Im still crossing fingers and toes for a safe return.

Insofar as how long to wait before getting another cat, I guess it depends on how much you loathe the idea of possibly having 3 cats.

*big hugs to Aos* I wouldn’t wait too long. Aos has always had someone around and I would hate it if he went into a kitty deprerssion (it can happen). If anything any cat you introduce would get along fine with Windigo, if and when he returns.
