Photography Contest

While the Spokane County Interstate Fair in still a couple months I just found out the deadline for the photography contest in it is August 10th. I have been on the fence for the weekend as to if I want to enter as I have a bit of preparation to do before I can enter (getting the prints, mounting and matting them.) Not to mention getting ready for one of my best friend’s weddings at the end of July. However she is entering too and if she can enter and organize a wedding, then I certainly can do it too.

I can submit one photo per category, so I have narrowed my photos down and matched them into them. The problem, as you can see below, is that I have more the one per category. So I come to you, my readers, with a request. Please look at those photos I have chosen (click to see a bigger one on my flickr) and let me know which are your favorite and why. Let me know if there are ones you don’t really like either and why?

Still life: Plumcot — there’s a life and interest to the shot that I just love.

Nature – the purple sphere flower. The focus is wonderfully crisp.

    Animals – the bee :)

Still = jars: Good depth of field, shadows, light, color, and shapes.
Nature = sun ray: Interesting and unusual.
Animals = kitten: Very soft, sweet subject. Consider making an unusual crop (landscape rectangle) to draw attention.

Good luck to you at the fair. What fun!

i dont know much about photography, but i react most to -

    still – plumcot (lighting/shadows)

nature – morning rays (i can feel the peacefullness)

animals – bee (i love them both, but i think it would be more difficult to get such an awesome shot of a bee given their size…more talent required w/ the focusing, etc….but i really love the cat one too)

    good luck!!!
