Modeled by a lovely cantaloupe is Damian’s almost finished apple hat (I only have the leaves left to do.) I love how it has turned out except for one big BIG problem. It doesn’t fit Damian!
Even though my gauge was right and I knit the two-year-old size, it just won’t fit (and the universe knows I’ve tried!) So frustrating!
The problem is not the circumference, which is right on, it is the depth. This knit does not come down over his ears. Not all is lost though. Ivy is also blessed with a spacious home for her brain and it turns out that this hat fits her well. As I had intended on making her one as well (sabbat gifts for our Autumn Equinox apple picking trip) it works out in the end. I will do the same one for Damian again but add two or three inches in depth.
In other knits have cast on the first Yule gift for family, a Seaman’s Cap. I have a really nice navy blue wool blend for it. Not sharing who it is for of course but hopefully it will be well received (and fit!)
I have also settled on the first sweater I want to knit. It is for Ivy and I hope to have it, and one for Damian, done by Thanksgiving.
What’s on your needles?
